Steve Ditko is one of the great comic book pioneers, responsible for an
influential, unique style and hundreds of stories and characters none
famous than the superhero he created with Stan Lee in 1962: Spider-Man. He went
on to illustrate the first 38 issues of The Amazing Spider-Man.
Amazing Spider-Man #19, published in December 1964, features an exciting
return to action for Spider-Man after several issues when he cared for an ailing
Aunt May and was labeled a coward. Here he encounters arch villains
Sandman, the Enforcers and finds time to team up with the Human Torch.
