Description: 25 Years in the making, this book is a limited hardcover slipcase edition. Comes signed and numbered by Greg and Tim Hildebrandt. There were only 1000 books printed for this edition, and Spiderwebart Gallery has purchased the entire remaining inventory of this Limited, Signed, and Numbered Edition of their hard cover Tolkien art book from the publisher. These magnificent books are now only sold exclusively from Spiderwebart. Included, are 2 original Remarques. (original sketch) The 1st Remarque is on the front, inside end paper. The 2nd Remarque is on the inside back end paper of the book. Each book is made to order, so no two will ever be exactly alike. Since Tim Hildebrandt passed away on June 11, 2006 the remarques will be done by Greg Hildebrandt. These books were all hand signed by Tim Hildebrandt at time of publication. This book has all of the Hildebrandt's Tolkien art from their three calendars published in 1976, 1977 and 1978. A full 132 Color Pages that includes all of their Tolkien finished sketches, concept sketches and rough sketches that have survived the 25 years since the first calendar was published, along with dozens of the original photos of their posing sessions in the seventies. The fun-filled wonderful text is written by Greg Hildebrandt, Junior, as it was seen through his eyes as a child remembering back to when he 5, 6 and 7 years old and posed for all the Hobbits in the original calendars. There are dozens of quotes from Greg and Tim. Some are funny and some are technical. All are worth reading. The back section of the book has all of their Tolkien art done since 1978 and beyond. This includes their chess set designs, magazine covers and commissioned artwork. If you are a Tolkien Fan this is a must have! If you are a Hildebrandt fan this is a must have! |
